Levochevo village

Levochevo is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan municipality, Smolyan Region.

Levochevo Village is situated 6 km north of Smolyan, 7 km south-east of Pamporovo resort, and 95 km south of Plovdiv. It is situated about 1000 meters above sea level and has approximately 150 inhabitants.
The relief is typical for the Rhodope Mountains - combination of heights, separated by deep river valleys. The snow cover stays from 80 to 120 days. Summer is cool and autumn - long and warm.
In the village is located the community center "Razvitie" -  with a folk group and a small library. Nearest medical centers, schools and kindergartens are located in the county town of Smolyan.

 

Tourism and landmarks

Over the last 5-6 years, started the  development of tourism in the village.  Several holiday complexes were built, villages,together with a new road connecting them as well and the village directly  with Pamporovo.
Not far from Levochevo are the  picturesque villages  Hasovitsa, Pisanitsa, Sokolovtsi, Momchilovtsi and localities Rozhen, Haidushki polyani /meadows/, which are among the most popular tourist routes in the region. Other frequently visited places are the Smolyan Lakes, Canyon of the  Falls - Soskovcheto, Neviastata (with facilities for rock climbing), Shiroka laka, and for lovers of caves - Uhlovitsa, Yagodinska and  Dyavolsko garlo /Devil's Throat./
 In Levochevo is  located the St. St. Peter and Pavel church - an architectural monument, built in less than 40 days in 1836 with the sultan's decree. 29 houses in the village have been declared monuments of local importance. The oldest houses date from 1876 and some of them are in their original form.
