Village of Gudevitsa

Gudevitsa is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan Municipality,  Smolyan region.

Gudevitsa is located in the west part of the Rhodope Mountains, near the border with Greece, 36 kilometers southwest from the town of Smolyan, 45 km southwest from the ski-resort Pamporovo and 282 km southeast from the city of Sofia.

It is situated at an altitude of 1224 meters. Mountain climate is characterized by relatively cool summer and mild winter, sometimes heavy snow fall.

The permanent population is about 20 people.

The village has paved roads and mobile phone coverage. Here there is a community center and shop. The nearest medical facilities are in the town of Smolyan.
In Gudevitsa there is a church "St. Ilya" - built in 1882, and the Bell donated by Greece still hangs on the wall of the building.

 

In the area you can visit:

Agushevi konatsi / architectural and artistic monument of national importance / located in the village of Mogilitsa/ around 7 km north/.

Attraction in the area is the cave "Uhlovitsa" which is located 2 km from the village of Koshnitsa / 13km /. It is one of the oldest in the region and the richest caves in Bulgaria. Challenge are 180 iron steps to the entrance and 288 inside. The cave has a hall pit and ends with four beautiful lakes in early spring are filled with water. As the largest lake stone spurts of brilliant waterfall.

In Smolyan village guests can visit: Smolyan History Museum - the oldest and largest in the Rhodope Mountains, Smolyan Planetarium, Rhodope Drama Theatre, church "St. Vissarion ", Monument of Orpheus and Eurydice, Rozhen Observatory.
