Yavorov quarter

Yavorov quarter is situated in the eastern part of Sofia city.

Location

The quarter is set in close proximity to Borisova Garden, Tsarigradsko shosse Blvd, Evlogi Georgiev Blvd, Geo Milev quarter and Orlov Bridge. Doctor's Garden and Sofia University 'St Climent Ohridski' are nearby as well. Yavorov is one of the most preferred quarters in the city because of its convenient location and proximity to the main institutions and main roads.

Architecture

The neighbourhood comprises mainly brick buildings and houses from the period 1950-1970. Lots of green areas make the place more beautiful and tranquil. Borisova Garden and Doctor's Garden are wonderful parks for recreation and walks.

Education, health care and recreation

There are two kindergartens - Kindergarten № 18 'Children world' and № 77 'Magnolia', Secondary School № 12 'Tsar Ivan Asen II', School 'Europe' and Polyclinic № 19. The central building of the most elite university in Bulgaria - Sofia University 'St Climent Ohridski' is located several minutes away.

Many public houses, restaurants, pizza restaurants, mini-markets and one of BILLA supermarkets are located in the region of Borisova Garden and Sofia University.

Ariana Lake offers different attractions in the summer such as going for a row and water wheeling. The biggest ice skating-rink on the Balkans is constructed there in the winter.

Alexander Nevski Monument is located nearby as well. Various events such as concerts, holiday programmes, etc. take place there.

'Bulgarian Army' stadium, 'Serdica' capital bicycle track and 'Maria Luiza' swimming pool are situated next to Borisova Garden. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 'Universiada' sport hall, the National Art Gallery and the Bulgarian Academy of Science are between Geo Milev quarter and Yavorov quarter.

Transportation

The quarter is preferred because of Borisova Garden, Ariana Lake and Tsarigradsko shosse Blvd. This boulevard is one of the biggest in the city and offers lots of public transportation.

The newly-built subway station - 'St Climent Ohridski' makes the area one of the most convenient. It connects the eastern and western neighbourhoods of the city.

Many of the public transportation lines pass through Orlov Bridge. This makes easier the travelling of Yavorov residents.
