Mechka is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Pleven municipality, Pleven region.
In Bulgaria there is another settlement with the same name it is in Ivanovo municipality, Ruse region.
It is 23 km northeast of the town of Pleven and 16 km northwest of the town of Slavyanovo. The neighboring village Koilovtsi is 8 km southwest. The capital Sofia is 187 km southwest.
It is located in the central part of the Danubian Plain and its altitude is between 100-199 m. The climate is temperate and is characterized with hot and dry summer while the winter is cold. During June and February fall lots of precipitation. Hails are common phenomenon to the area.
Regular bus transportation connects it to the other settlements. There are constructed water and electricity systems. The mobile operators have coverage.
The permanent population is about 832 people.
Mechka is well maintained village. Here are functioning town hall, community center, kindergarten, primary school, stores and restaurants. For the health of the local people take care one dentist and one GP. Hospitals are situated in the town of Pleven and the nearest medical center is the town of Slavyanovo.
The dam near Slavyanovo attracts the people that enjoy fishing with carp, bream and medium-sized carp.
In the town of Pleven you can visit three of the 100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria - Pleven Epopee 1877, the Regional History museum and the mausoleum-chapel "St George Pobedonosets". Other interesting places in proximity are Kaylaka park and the Wine Museum.
