LANDMARKS AND TOURISM

Only 3 km north of Sipey, in the village of Zimzelen, is situated the rock phenomenon The Stone wedding - group of natural rock formations of figures with height up to 10 m, resembling wedding-guests. The site is natural landmark. It could be reached by a marked ecological path as well.

In the village of Beli plast /20 km north-east/ is situated the natural phenomenon Stone mushrooms. The local people call it Mantarkaya. The rock formations resembling mushrooms are product of rhyolitic volcano tuffs. The area was declared natural landmark in 1974.

High in the rocks, about 22 km south-east of the village of Sipey, rises the archeological complex of 'Perperikon'. It is claimed the complex used to be a sanctuary of Dionysus (the god of Wine, Theatre and Ecstasy in Greek mythology).
