Vrelo is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Momchilgrad, Kardzhali region.
It is located at 10 km east of Momchilgrad, about 25 km south-east of the regional center Kardzhali, about 70 km south-west of Haskovo and about 265 km south-east of the capital Sofia city.
The village is situated in the Eastern Rhodopes at altitude of about 550 m. The climate is temperate to Mediterranean with mild winters and hot summers.
The village's name was Tashkanlar until 1934. Here live approximately 130 people.
Vrelo is provided with water and electricity. The infrastructure is settled with partly asphalted and lighted streets. There are a mosque and a grocery store here.
Primary school, kindergarten and community center you will find in the near village of Raven /6 km in the north/. Medical care for the population is provided by one GP and one dentist again there. The nearest health centers are in Momchilgrad.
In the village of Vrelo, near Chalakyoy neighbourhood, you can visit the tomb of Isman baba - a saint, warshiped by the local muslims. Every September at that site a traditional fair is held. The fair is visited by people from the neighbouring villages as well.
