Dolna kula is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is part of the municipality of Krumovgrad, Kardzhali Region.

It is located at about 10 km north-west of the town of Krumovgrad, about 48 km south-east of the regional center Kardzhali and approximately 289 kilometers in the same direction of the capital Sofia city. The neighbouring village of Gorna kula is located at 3 km in the south.

The village is situated in a mountainous area at an altitude of 260 m It is part of the transitional-continental climate zone. Winters are relatively mild and summers are long and hot. The River Krumovitsa passes in the close proximity of the village.

The permanent population is about 160 people.

The village has a relatively good infrastructure - most of the streets are in good condition, the village has electricity and water supply systems, all mobile operators have coverage, bus transport connects it with the surrounding villages.

The village of Dolna kula is located 5 km from one of the main thoroughfares in Southern Bulgaria - II 59 Momchilgrad - Krumovgrad - Ivaylovgrad which connects the municipality of Krumovgrad with the neighboring municipalities, the regional center Kardzhali and the national transport network.

The nearest primary school with partial kindergarten is in the village of Gorna kula. Secondary school and kindergarten one can find in Krumovgrad. Medical assistance cen be obtained in the town as well. There are two medical centers in Krumovgrad – one multiprofile hospital for active treatment and a medical center.

The main crop which is grown is tobacco. Stockbreeding is well developed as well.

LANDMARKS AND TOURISM

Next to Dolna kula, in the middle course of the River Krumovitsa, in the area between Gorna kula and the River Dushan dere, is situated the important ornithological area "Krumovitsa". There are several rock formations with different cuts in them along the river which are the evidence that the valley has been inhabited since ancient times. There are such complexes near the village of Gorna kula as well.

At the very entrance of the village of Gorna kula, is located the Karamfil Dam, which is suitable for commercial fishing.

In the area of the neighboring village of Vransko / 9 km in the south-east / in the area Keremid cheli, can be visited aprehistoric settlement related to the culture Karanovo II / middle Neolithic - 5 thousand BC / and in the village of Chaika / 5 km in the north-west / rock niches associated with ritual activity were found.

The medieval nave church built of hewn stones soldered with plaster in the central part of Krumovgrad might also be of interest to the tourists.

The mosque "Seytlyar dzhamisi" is also a site with importance for the cultural heritage of the town. It was built on the foundations of an old wooden mosque from XVI - XVIII century and is believed to be the main reason for the existance of Krumovgrad and the villages that surround it. The friday meetings of people there were the reason for trade relations to arise, for commercial stores and, later, even house to appear.
