Vranya stena is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Zemen municipality, Pernik region

It is 6 km north of the town of Zemen and 47 km southwest of the town of Pernik. The capital Sofia is 74 km northeast. 

Its 22 neighborhoods are shattered on the north slope of Zemenska mountain and on the south slope of Rudini mountain. Its altitude is 727 m. The climate is temperate and it is influenced by the mountain relief and it is characterized by cold winter and hot summer. 

The permanent population is about 69 people. 

In the village are functioning mayor's vice royalty, community center and store. The nearest schools, kindergartens and polyclinic are on the  territory of the town of Zemen and hospital there is in the town of Pernik. 

One of the legends tells that when the Turkish army tried to conquer it the local people defended it so hard that the desperate Ottomans cried "Vranya stena" which in Turkish means black, solid wall. 

Tourism and landmarks

East from the center of the village rises Golemi kamak that is massive rock like wall with about 100 m height and it is nesting place for eagles. 

Pchelina dam is situated about 10 km from the village and creates excellent conditions for the people that enjoy fishing. It is stocked with fish and besides there are made amenities for the tourists such as parking, bay, restaurant and bungalows. 

Cultural landmarks that you can see in the area are Zemenski monastery (6 km), Zhablyanski monastery (7 km), Chepinsi monastery (10 km) and Radiboshki monastery (11 km).
