Gorna Verenitsa is a village in northwestern Bulgaria, in Montana municipality, region of Montana.

It is located 11 km north-west of the district town of Montana, 23 km north of Berkovitsa and 25 km south of Brusartsi.

Gorna Verenitsa is located on the northern slope of Broad Mountain. It is situated along the road from Montana to Vidin. Together with the neighboring village of Dolna Verenitsa are known as Verenishkoto nest.
The landscape is a mix of plain and mountain. Altitude between 300 and 500 m. The climate in the region is characterized with cold winters and warm summers. The average annual temperature in January is-2,1 º C and average temperature in July is 21,4 º C.
Gorna Veneritsa is quiet, peaceful, orderly and intoxicating place with its carefree, very friendly and hospitable people. The population numbers about 230 people.
The villagecomprises with a community center, church, shops, GP, home for adults with physical disabilities, and regular bus transport to nearby settlements.
Newly modern Agrocenter offers opportunities for development of agriculture in the village.

Tourist and cultural attractions:

The church of St. Nicholas is a national cultural monument. It is partially dug into the ground. There are small windows / vent / - two on the south and one on the north side.
Another interesting site, located about ten kilometers from Gorna Verenitsa is the fourth largest dam in the country - "Ogosta". It collects water from the rivers Ogosta, Barziya and Zlatitsa, and is located 600 meters southwest of the suburbs of Montana, 60 meters above the city. On the wall of the reservoir has a large complex with a restaurant and four swimming pools, bungee jumps, slides and jungle gyms.
