Ustrem is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is a part of Topolovgrad municipality, Haskovo region.

It is situated 15 km southeast of Topolovgrad, 60 km south of Yambol and 100 km east of Haskovo.

The climate is temperate-continental, with a strong Mediterranean influence. Summers are hot and dry, winters are mild. Spring is characterized by a rapid rise in temperature and autumn, for the most of its part, is dry and relatively warm.

The altitude is about 80 m.

The village is the biggest one in the region. Its population is more than 1 000 people.

There is a good infrastructure, water, electricity, sewerage. Ustrem has also a primary school "Ivan Vazov", a kindergarten, a community center with a large library (over 20,000 volumes), a post office, a stadium, a post station, many shops, two bakeries. There is also a workshop for details from "Arsenal" factory in Kazanlak.

In Ustrem is located a medical practice with a doctor and a dentist, the closest hospital is in Topolovgrad.

In the settlement until the mid-90s of last century was operating a lead-zinc mine "Mina Ustrem." Currently "Ustrem" factory is producing three types of dolomite and feldspar.

Sightseeings

In the center of the village, in front of the city hall, is a monument of the victims - known and unknown soldiers - who died during the liberation war.

In Ustrem there is a church, and about 3 km away is the monastery "Sveta Troitsa"/Holy Trinity/ with active female convent.

The biggest festival is held in June, at the feast of the monastery "Holy Trinity". There is another festival held in the center of the village, in October. Folk casts, meetings, fights and football matches are performed between neighboring villages and Ustrem.
