Barzeya is a village in southern Bulgaria. Located in Kirkovo Municipality, Kardzhali region.

It is only 9 km northwest from Kirkovo, 49 km southwest from the town of Kardzhali, 35 km in the same direction from the town of Momchilgrad and 292 km southeast from the city of Sofia.

It is situated in an area with hilly foothill terrain at an altitude of about 424 meters. The climate is Mediterranean, winters are relatively mild and summers are long and hot.

In the village of Zavoya you can find a kindergarten / 8 km southeast /. In Kirkovo you can receive a medical care in the medical center. The closest secondary school and community center are located again in Kirkovo. General Hospital you can find in Momchilgrad.

TOURISM

In the village Krilatitsa / 5 km east / was found a late ancient and medieval fortress in the area Asara announced in 1996 an archaeological monument.

In the village Shumnatitsa / 12 km southeast / 4 Roman bridges can be seen, and two mills built in the XIX century and declared monuments of local importance.

Near the village of Kirkovo in the area Varnitzata, there is a mineral spring, the waters can be used for SPA, bottling of natural mineral waters and soft drinks.

The village Chakalarovo / 14 km south / is located the protected area Gyumyurdzhinski glacier to the south it reaches to the state border with Greece. The area are preserved primary Yavorovi, beech and beech-fir forests over 150 years old. Many of the specimens exceeded 300 even 400 years ago. The Red Book of Bulgaria included 11 plant species.

Mount Veykata - the most southern point of Bulgaria, is located just 14 km to the southwest. From the top you can see the Aegean Sea.

On the left bank of the river Vurbitsa next to the village Fotinovo / 17 km southwest / there are six Thracian niches ancient cutouts, grooves and rock tomb. Amazing rock formations resembling turtles are carved into the rock near the village. According to researchers, they are the work of a very ancient civilization living in the Eastern Rhodopes.
