Gorski Izvor is a village in Southern Bulgaria, situated in Dimitrovgrad municipality, Haskovo region.

In Bulgaria there is one more village with the same name. It is located in the municipality of Kirkovo, Kardjali region.

Gorski Izvor is located on the trans-European road E80. It stands 11 km southwest from the municipality center of Dimitrovgrad, 15 km northwest from the regional town of Haskovo, 60 km southwest from town of Plovdiv. The nearest railway station is 6 km away to the north, in the village of Iabalkovo and the other is that of the nearby village of Skobelevo.

In the southern part of the village passes a small, nameless river. The total area of the land of Gorski izvor is 44,379 acres. The village is located on 2,500 acres and the rest are farmland, pastures, many small dams and forests. The climate favors the better development of agriculture and livestock.

The permanent population is about 1480 people.

The name of the village is a literal translation from an old Turkish name (koru çeşme) and means "a spring in the forest." The settlement was originally located around the spring in a huge ancient forest. Current name appeared in 1906. There are several different versions about the discovering of this spring from a shepherd of the nearby (already non-existing) village of Barievo.

The village is developed and has maintained infrastructure. There are electricity, water and communications networks. The main streets are asphalted and lighted. On the territory of Gorski Izvor you can find the buildings of the city-hall, the church "St. George", the community center "Probuda", a kindergarten, a grocery store, a pharmacy, doctor and a dentist. The nearest primary school is in the village of Iabalkovo. Secondary schools and specialized medical care can be found on the territory of Dimitrovgrad.

In the middle of the center there is an old, small, park. In the central part of is there is a preserved bell tower. At the western end there is a unique monument called "The Bulgarian - mother and soldier's widow", raised in 1930.

Each year on 6th of May (the national holiday of the Bulgarian soldiers) there is a celebration of the saint who gave its name to the local church "St. George." Divine services are held for health of the people. At the same, there is a folklore festival running in the park.

Bobina yazma area is situated east from the village. You can go for a picnic or a walk. In 2005 the site was enlisted in the tourist eco-path.
