LANDMARKS AND TOURISM

The village is located on the bank of the Studen kladenets Dam - the third largest dam in Bulgaria which offers excellent conditions for fishing and is suitable for recreation and water sports during the summer.

One of the most interesting sites is the Yumruka Mount where you can see the colony of Griffon Vultures, located on a vast scale hung over the dam. Those vultures are very rare and can only be seen in Spain, Greece and Bulgaria.

Ancient Thracian rock niches were found near the village of Studen kladenets in the Bobalar neighborhood. In the fields below the sanctuary there are many pieces of pottery, which was affixed with engraved decoration, consisting of curves, circles, spirals and more.

Next to Studen kladenets is situated the Devil's bridge - a monument of the ancient architecture art. The bridge was built in the XVth century on an ancient road connecting the Aegaean through the Rhodopes with the Upper Thracian plain.

Only 21 km to the east, near the village of Oreshari, is situated the picturesque area "Oreshari" which has been declared protected in order to preserve the rare flora and fauna species that inhabit it. There are many archaeological sites in the area as well, some of which have historical importance. Such are:

  • Medieval rock monastery "Reverend Martin’s hole”, declared a cultural monument of national importance;
  • Thracian rock niches, also declared a cultural monument;
  • Caves in the "Bridge" area /The Six caves / - natural landmark included in the list of the 250 most famous caves in Bulgaria
