Pelishat is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Pleven municipality, Pleven region

It is 21 km southeast if the town of Pleven, 6 km southwest of the town of Pordim and 186 km northeast from the capital Sofia.

It is located in valley region and its altitude is 203 m. The climate is temperate and is characterized by hot and dry summer while the winter is cold. There is lots of precipitation during the months June and February. There often fall hails. 

The permanent population is about 725 m. There are constructed water and electricity systems. 

Here are functioning town hall, primary school, community center, church, stores and restaurants. For the health of the local people take care two GPs. Specialized medical assistance you can get on the territory of the town of Pleven and the nearest kindergarten is in the town of Pordim. 

 

Tourism and landmarks

 

In the area there are lime and Turkey oak forests, as well as those of white acacia.

In the areas Peshterata and Merkovo are found localities of stone tools, stone hammers, flint scraper, a bronze ax and other artifacts from the prehistoric era.
In the area between Neykova and Lacheva drinking fountains were found stone masonry, bricks, mortar, plumbing from Roman times. There was a Roman bath with hot mineral water. Near Lachev fountain there are remains of a Roman road.

Pelishat is with 80-years football history and big traditions.  The football club of the village "Pelezo" is competing in C football group. 

Curious fact is that on Greenwich Island in Antarctica is located cape named after the village. 

In the town of Pleven you can visit three of the 100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria - Pleven Epopee 1877, the Regional History museum and the mausoleum-chapel "St George Pobedonosets". Other interesting places in proximity are Kaylaka park and the Wine Museum. 

Interesting natural landmarks that you can go on an excursion are the canyon of Chernelka river (29 km), Kapchuka cave (24 km) and Devetashkata cave (21 km).
