Chukovets is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Radomir municipality, Pernik region.
In Bulgaria there is one other settlement with the same name it is in Alfatar municipality, Silistra region.
IT is 20 km southeast of the town of Radomir and 39 km south of the town of Pernik. The village of Kondofrei is 2 km northwest and the village of Galabnik is 5 km southeast. The capital Sofia is 52 km northeast.
It is situated in the Radomir hollow at the foot of Konyavska mountain and its altitude is 700 m. The climate is characterized by cold winter with little precipitation, late and cool spring, warm but not hot summer with lots of precipitation and warm fall. It is often foggy.
Bus and railway transportation connect it to the other settlements.
The permanent population is about 168 people.
Here are functioning mayor's vice royalty, community center, store and pub. The nearest primary school is in the village of Galabnik. The nearest kindergarten and GPs are in the town of Radomir where there also is hospital and specialized medical assistance you can get at the hospitals in Pernik and Dupnitsa.
In the village of Chukovets (2 km) could be seen the medieval church "St Nikola" in which there are medieval frescoes and also from the Renaissance. Near the village there is a bunch of hundred year old trees - four winter oaks and two Turkey oaks.
In proximity are situated Dolna Dikanya and Dyakovo dams which offer excellent conditions for fishing. In the are you could visit the Natural reserve Ostritsa, the medieval fortress Krakra near Pernik, the church "St Petka" in the village of Dren.
