Dorkovo is a village in Southern Bulgaria, part of Municipality Rakitovo, District of Pazardjik.
It stands about 45 km south-west from the town of Pazardjik, about 7 km north-east from the town of Rakitovo and about 13 km north-east from the town of Velingrad.
The population of the village is about 3000 residents.
The relief is low-mountainous, with altitude about 992 m.
The climate in the region is continental, with soft winters, and cool summers.
The infrastructure of Dorkovo includes partly asphalted and lighted streets, complete electrification, water supply system, partial sewerage and telephones.
The secondary road connecting the settlement with the towns of Vleingrad and Pazardjik is about 5 km away.
There is regular bus line to the town ofVelingrad.
Dorkovo has a town house, primary school and community center. There are several shops and restaurants.
GP and a dentist serve the medical needs of the village residents.
Tourism and cultural attractions
About 12 km away is the Lepenitsa cave. So far speleologists have reached 1400 m–depth, but the end of it has not been reached yet.
The town of Velingrad famous for is spas with temperatures of 28 ºС to 86 ºС is about 13 km away. It is an attractive destination for people with health problems, who are looking for the healing mineral waters.
There is also the reservoir of Batak, with its natural resources and excellent conditions for hunting, fishing, rural tourism, as well as for skiing and water sports.
The resort of Tsigov chark, disposed by the picturesque reservoir of Batak is about 14 km away, offering fishing and hiking throughout the summer.
