Velchevo is a village in Municipality of Apriltsi, District Lovech.
In Bulgaria there is another settlement bearing the same name- village of Velchevo in Veliko Tarnovo municipality, Veliko Tarnovo region.
It is 11 km north-west of the town of Apriltsi, 44 km from Lovech, 11 km south-east of Troyan and 3 km north of the village of Skandaloto.
It situated at the foot of Stara Planina, near the river Vidima. The population numbers about 170 people.
Velchevo is well-developed village, with coverage of all mobile operators and satellite TV. There are two food shops, and a pub. Regular bus service connects it with Apriltsi, Troyan, Oreshak and Sofia.
The village has a hotel with a pool and several guest houses which offer accommodation to tourists.
Nearest schools and hospitals are located in the town of Apriltsi.
Troyan Monastery - the third largest monastery in Bulgaria is located 9 km away from Velchevo.
Skandaloto is 3 km and is maintained entirely by the spirit of the Revival period preserved ancient houses.
Waterfall Rayskoto praskalo - the highest waterfall on the Balkan Peninsula and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Bulgaria. It is accessible by well maintained and newly constructed eco-trail.
