Kostino is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is part of Kardzhali Municipality, Kardzhali Region.

It is 15 km south-west from town of Kardzhali, 49 km north-east from town of Ardino, 250 km south-west from town of Burgas, 94 km south-east from town of Plovdiv and 263 km in the same direction from city of Sofia. Regular bus transportation to town of Kardzhali and the neighbouring villages.

The population is approximately 350 people.

The village spreads out the Eastern Rhodopes, on 603 m above the sea level. Just 10 km away of Kardzhali Dam. Mountainous region with splendid panoramic views. The region characterizes with hot summer and mild winter.

The village is well-developed, provided with electricity, water and communication equipment. There is a town-hall, a post office, an elementary school, a kindergarten, a doctor, a community centre and commercial areas. 
The nearest hospitals are in the municipal and regional town of Kardzhali.

LANDMARKS AND TOURISM

Natural site near Kostino is The Rock window, located in the area of Golemiya dol. This is a magnificent, real rock bridge, shaped under the water of the turbulent Kostino gully. The Rock window is the same age as the Rock Wedding and the Rock Mushrooms. Its structure and formation are also similar. The site is convenient for pedestrian tourism with a guide.

Kardzhali Dam is the perfect place for recreation, sun-bathing and practicing water sports in the summer. There are many hotels, restaurants and villas constructed in close proximity. The dam is one of the biggest in the country. Tourists may try water bicycles, jets and water ski. Modern row base is located near the village. Fishing here is quite various. The waters of the dam are inhabited by brook trout, sturgeon, carp, amour, chub, perch, etc.

About 30 km away of the village is set the historical landmark 'Perperikon' - archeological complex, consisting of large megalithic sanctuary, monuments from the antiquity and medieval fortress. It is part of the 100 National Tourist Sites.
