LANDMARKS AND TOURISM

"Dyavolski most" (The Devil's Bridge)

The most popular place in the region, without a doubt, is the so-called "Devil's Bridge". It is situated at a latitude of 420m , surrounded by scarps as high as 800m above the sea level. This bridge's lenght is 56m, and its width - 3,5m. The bridge itself looks a lot like cobblestones path. The low railings have been preserved from the old Roman bridge. The construction is pointy, descenting down the river shores with its 3 archs and 4 smaller holes between them (those holes are designed to show the water level). The central vault, where the "Stamp of Solomon" lies, is also the tallest one - almost 12m.
According to a local legend, the craftsman built into the bridge a young girl's shadow (a well-known motive through the Renascence age), thus "dooming" the construction to preserve through time, and the girl herself - to death (the floklore states that ones her shadow is built into the bridge, the girl starts to languish and soon leaves the world of the living).
