Harsovo is a village situated in South-western Bulgaria. It is part of Sandanski Municipality, Blagoevgrad region.

There are two more villages in Bulgaria with the same name. They are part of Samuil Municipality, Razgrad region and Nicola Kozlevo Municipality, Shumen region.

Harsovo is 87 km south-east from town of Blagoevgrad, 25 km in the same direction from town of Sandanski, 172 km south from city of Sofia, 53 km west from town of Gotse Delchev, 12 km north from village of Kulata and 23 km east from town of Petrich.

Its population is approximately 230 people.

The village spreads out at the foot of Pirin Mountain, at the valley of Melnishka River. The relief is hilly. The sea altitude is 301 m.

Mild winters, hot summers and early springs characterize the area. The sun shining is the longest in the country.

Harsovo is famous with its first-classed wine made by the natives. Here are the vineyards which produce Melnishko wine from Harsovo. There is a big wine cell and several small family wine cellars. The village comprises a town-hall, a community centre with a library, a church and trade areas. The closest medical services are in the village of Katuntsi (7 km away). Schools and kindergartens are available in town of Sandanski.

Landmarks and tourism

Local place of interest is the church built in the end of XVII century. It was built in the highest part of the village (this was not common for these years).

Just 9 km away from the village is the smallest town in Bulgaria - Melnik. The town is famous with its sand pyramids and wine cellars. Several kilometers up the hill is the Rozhen Monastery, which is one of the Medieval Bulgarian monasteries kept until nowadays.

Harsovo is not far away from Pirin National Park as well. The park is one of the three national parks in Bulgaria. It characterizes with various natural, cultural and historical sections. The park is in UNESCO list for World Heritage.
