Village of Borilovo

Borilovo is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Stara Zagora Municipality, Stara Zagora region.

It is about 14 km northwest from the city of Stara Zagora, about 25 km southeast from the town of Kazanlak and about 7 km northeast from the Starozagorski mineral baths.
In the center of the village is situated one of the main sources of river Bedechka.

The population is about 360 inhabitants.

Climate is temperate continental. The average temperature in January is about -1 º C and in July around 22 º C. Summer is hot and winter - moderately cold. Spring comes in mid-March, the warm and sunny autumn lasts till mid-November.

The village has a fully developed electricity and water supply system. All mobile operators have coverage. In Borilovo there is Internet and cable television, a church, post office, town hall, shops, restaurants, cafes operate there.  Nearest medical center is located in Starozagorskite baths and nearest kindergarten and school are located in Stara Zagora. The village is served by regular bus.
In recent years Borilovo acquires the appearance of a villa area, due to its close proximity to Stara Zagora and beautiful scenery. Several foreign families have purchased property here.

Tourism and Sightseeing

The village is situated in a picturesque area, surrounded by coniferous and deciduous forests, meadows with wild strawberries and different types of mushrooms.

About 1.5 km from the village is Yorgov well. The water is spring and icy cold.

Starozagorski mineral baths is a national resort spa. It has more than 20 hotels and holiday homes. In the center of the resort there are excavations of ancient Roman bath. Next to the eastern part of the new bath there is an archaeological complex.

Nearby is the area "Bogorodichna stapka", a rock formation resembling a footprint left by the female leg, which according to legend was left by Mary herself. Nearby are the two sacrificial altar from Thracian times. Here is built a chapel as the site is considered to be healing.
