Odranitsa is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Zemen municipality, Pernik region.

It is 6 km northwest of the village of Gorna Glogovitsa and 68 km west of the town of Pernik. The neighboring village of Dokyovtsi is 9 km in the same direction. The capital Sofia is 95 km east.

It is located in mountain region and its altitude is about 901 m. The climate is temperate but influenced by the mountain relief and is characterized by cold winter and warm summer. The most of the precipitation falls in May and June.

The permanent population is about 25 people.

The nearest stores, as well as school, kindergarten and medical assistance you will find in the municipality - the town of Tran.

Tourism and landmarks

According to the legend connected to the name of the village is for group of Turkish bandits that attacked local girl. After they were caught there were skinned and tied to the trees in the forest.

At the same place was constructed holy place. Now at the village there is Orthodox monastery "St St apostles Petar and Pavel". Annually on Petrovden is organized gathering. The monastery is with its own water source as well as spring with mineral water. According to the legend everyone that is sprinkled with it is cured from every disease suffered.
The monastery complex was renovated in 2000. It is extremely beautiful and clean and consists of church, residential building and two chapels. They are beautifully decorated with frescoes. The modern Odranishki monastery is ancestor to old monastery that was there in XIX century. The icons and the iconostasis are made by the brothers Ivan and Marko Hadzhiikonomovi from Bansko.
