Yalbotina is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Dragoman municipality, Sofia region

The village is situated near the border between Bulgaria and Serbia and about 15 km south of the village of Kalotina near which is located the border check point Kalotina. Yalbotina is 10 km southwest of the town of Dragoman, 16 km west of the town of Slivnitsa, 34 km northwest of the town of Pernik and 45 km northwest of the capital Sofia

Yalbotina is situated in the historical and geographical area "Burel" that encompasses the West Bulgaria and East Serbia known also as the West Outlands. 

Its altitude is 678 m. The climate is temperate. The summer is hot and the winter is cool. There are negative values of the average January temperature of about -2,5 C and average July temperature of about 18,4 C. The amount of precipitation is little. 

The permanent population is about 82 people. 

The village is well maintained and the roads are asphalted. The nearest kindergartens and schools are located in Dragoman. A couple of GPs take care for the people and their practices are in Dragoman.

With its natural resources, beautiful landscape and almost untouched scenery, the area around Dragoman has the prerequisites to become an attractive place for hiking. High rocks, karst formations and shapes attract the attention of climbers, cavers and delta and unexplored terrain - the archaeologists and botanists. 

Lovers of extreme sports can get on a paraglider Chepan, one of the best places for this sport. 

Architectural and historical landmarks like Razboishki monastery and Cheparlyanski Monastery, Dragoman swamp, Temnata dupka cave etc. attract the attention of the tourists.
