Milkovitsa is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Gulyantsi municipality, Pleven region.

It is 4 km east from the town of Gulyantsi and 36 km north of Pleven. The capital Sofia is 187 km southwest.

It is located in the central part of the Danube Plain on the right shore of Vit river and its altitude is 161 m. The climate is temperate and is characterized by cold winter and hot summer while there is little precipitation.

Railway and bus transportation connect it to the other settlements. The village is one of the biggest in municipality and is well maintained. There are constructed electricity and water systems. All the mobile operators have coverage.

The permanent population is about 1913 people.

In Milkovitsa there are functioning town hall, post office, primary school, kindergarten and nursery school. There are well maintained stadium, shops and restaurants. One GP and one dentist take care for the people in the village. The nearest medical center and hospital are situated in Gulyantsi.

Tourism and landmarks

In the region there are two protected areas. The flow of Vit river is natural habitat of great significance to important species like mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fishes and invertebrates. It is also important route for the fishes - 44 species of them could be found here. The other protected area is the Nikopol Plateau which is habitat for 92 species of birds many of which are endangered or threatened. In this are also live rare endemic plant species.

The local cultural and archaeological heritage in the area is presented mainly by the archaeological reserve "Oescus" near Gigen village (24 km) which is declared cultural monument with national significance. It consists of remains from Roman and Byzantium cities.

The proximity to the rivers Vit, Iskar and Danube offers great opportunities for relaxation, excursions and fishing.
