Karabunar is a village in Southern Bulgaria, part of Municipality Septemvri, District of Pazardjik.

It stands about 17 km north-west of the town of Pazardjik and about 8 km south-west of the town of Septemvri.

About 7 km north-east is the A1 Trakia Motorway, and European route E 80 is at about 9 km south-west of the village.
There are regular transport - busses and shuttles from the towns of Sofia and Velingrad.

The relief is flat and hilly, with average altitude of 259 m.
The climate in the region is continental, characterized with mild winters and warm, dry summers.

The population of the village is about 1340 residents.

The village infrastructure includes partially asphalted and lighted streets, full electrification, water supply and partial sewerage systems, mobile operators coverage, telephone lines, Internet and cable TV.

The village residents have a town house, post office, post office, primary school and community center at their disposal.

The medical needs of the residents are served by General Practitioners.

Karabunar is known for producing high quality red wines and spirits. Prevailing sorts are Cabernet and Merlot. There is a winery built in the village.

Attractions

Boshulya reservoir is close to the village and is suitable for fishing.Dereto River runs through the village as well.

Kritoritsa Desislava Fortress is at the peak of the mound by the village. There have been archeological digs in search for the tunnel leading to the fortress.

At about 10 km, along the river Topolitsa is located Kalugerovski monastery "St. Nikola". A marble plate dating from the times of the Roman emperor Julian "the Apostate" is being kept there.
