Stojer is a village in north-eastern Bulgaria, part of Dobrichka municipality, Dobrich region. It is situated on Varna-Dobrich road, some 15 km away from the town of Dobrich and 40 km away from the city of Varna and the sea-shore.

Altitude - 312 m. The climate is temperate-continental and is characterized by a hot summer and a winter with plenty of snowfalls. The former name of the village used to be "Baladja" which means "small" in Turkish. Nowadays Stojer can hardly be called a small village. With a population numbering to over 1500 people, an excellent infrastructure and all modern conveniences, Stojer is a wonderful place to live far from the noise and the press of modern life in the big city.

 

history

The village is famous for the fact that in 1898 the first conference in agriculture in Bulgaria was held there aiming to create a movement to protect interests of the peasantry in the country. A monument has been constructed to mark the 110-th anniversary from the event.

In the village there are a mayor's office, a community center with a library, a doctor's office, a secondary school, a kindergarten, a stadium, many shops, a pharmacy, a dentist's office, a post-office, a pensioner's club, an Orthodox church, cafes, a discoteque, a beautiful park. Located near Stojer is "Gorski kat "complex with a hotel and a restaurant.
All modern communications are available - internet, telephone, satellite TV. The entire village is electrified and water-supplied. Excellent infrastructure - the roads are in a very good condition, excellent transportation links to the town of Dobrich and the nearby villages.
Stojer is set in an agricultural area. Grown in the area are grain cultures - wheat, barley and oat, as well as oil-yielding ones - rapeseed and sunflower. Many of the village inhabitants are commuting to the town of Dobrich.
Near the village there is a private apple garden, built in conformity with all European standards. The following varieties of apples are grown there: Florina, Granny Smith, Melrose, Mutzu and Charden.
