Skalsko is a village in Dryanovo municipality, Gabrovo region.

It is 8 km west of the town of Dryanovo, 12 km northeast of the town of Gabrovo, 28 km southwest of the town of Veliko Tarnovo, 23 km southeast of the town of Sevlievo and about 200 km east of the capital Sofia.

The village is located at Predbalkana area of Stara planina mountain and its altitude is 519 m. In close proximity is located dam and here flows Yantra river. The climate is characterized with hot summer and cold and snowy winter.

The permanent population is about 100. There is regular bus transportation that connects Skalsko with Dryanovo and the neighboring settlements.

In the village are working town hall and store. The nearest kindergartens, schools and medical centers are in the town of Dryanovo. On the bank of the dam there are hunting residence that creates great conditions for accommodation, fishing and hunting.

Tourism and landmarks

The village is famous for the rock formation Strazhata, the old Roman road that connects Augusta Trayana with Nicopolis ad Istrum and the Roman bridge above Yantra river.
Just 13 km from the village is Dryanovski monastery "St Archangel Michael" and Bacho Kiro cave. The monastery was founded in XII century and since then is center of the Bulgarian culture. The cave Bacho Kiro is located west of the monastery and is just in 5 minutes walking distance.
