Skalna glava is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is part of Kardzhali Municipality, Kardzhali Region.
It is located 16 km north-west of Kardzhali, 45 km south-west of Haskovo, 275 km in the same direction of Burgas and 241 km south-east of the capital Sofia.
The village is situated in the Eastern Rhodopes at an altitude of about 408 m. The region is hilly with beautiful panoramic views. Arda River and Kardzhali Dam are situated in the close proximity. The climate here is transitional-continental. Summers are warm and winters - soft.
The population is approximately 135 people.
The village is provided with water and electricity and has relatively good infrastructure. There is a grocery store here. Post office, primary school, kindergarten, GP and a community center you will find in the village of Kostino /4 km in the north/. The nearest hospitals are in town of Kardzhali.
Near the village of Dazhdovnitsa /4 km south-west/ you can visit several interesting sites:
Kardzhali Dam is a perfect place for yachting, surfing and swimming. The dam is convenient for fishing as well, due to its variety of fish.
About 30 km north-east is located the archeological complex of 'Perperikon' - one of the 100 National Tourist Sites.
