Neofit Rilski village

Neofit Rilski is a village in North-Eastern Bulgaria, part of Vetrino municipality, Varna region. It is located 45 km to the city of Varna, 11 km to the town of Suvorovo and 12 km to the town of Vetrino.

general information

The climate is temperate-continental and is characterized with a hot summer, a rainy autumn, a cold winter with plenty of snowfalls and a sunny spring. The relief is flat-hilly. The population of the village numbers to approximately 900 people. Altitude - 187 m.

history

The former name of Neofit Rilski used to be Kotlu Bey. Translated literally, it means "a blessed master". The legend has it that a TURK had a ranch in which both Christians and Turks used to work together. They called their master "blessed" for the fertile land and the good stock he owned.

infrastructure

In Neofit Rilski there is a community center with a library, a kindergarten, a mayoralty, grocery shops, ironware, an Orthodox church, a post office,a  doctor's office. The pupils from the village are attending the school in Vetrino, as the municipality has taken care to provide free transportation.
The village is supplied with water and electricity on a regular basis. On its territory there are over 350 wells and three water-fountains with pure spring water.
Regular bus transportation connects the village to the city of Varna and the nearby villages. All modern communications are available - coverage of all mobile operators, satellite TV, internet.
Six English families have purchased properties in the village, which will be renovated.

development prospectives

Traditionally the local people are occupied in to stock-breeding. Even today cattle is being bred in almost each household. Ducks and other birds are being bred as well. The private agricultural proprietors  are investing into the purchase of agricultural machinery for the cultivation of the vast fertile fields near the village, planted with sunflowers and other crops. Some of the farmers with bigger properties are providing occupation for the agricultural mechanics from the village.
The younger inhabitants of the village who are not engaged into agriculture are commuting to their work in the town of Devnya or the city of Varna.
The village provides excellent opportunities for the development of rural, eco and hunting tourism. The landscape is intriguing - vast fields are alternating rolling woody hills. The air is clear and healthy.

landmarks

  •  An eco-trail starts from the village with the following itinerary: Neofit Rilski village - Staroseletz village - Lagera area - Kara Peshtera.  Kara Peshtera /meaning "black cave"/ is a less known landmark. It is a rock monastery, located near a small river. The local people believe that is received its name due to the fact that some of its cells are set underneath the rock, where it is dark and damp.
