The village of Morava

Morava is a village in Northern Bulgaria, it is located in the municipality of Svishtov, Veliko Tarnovo Region.

The village is 78 km away from Veliko Tarnovo and 29 km southwest of the town of Svishtov.

The population is about 1200 inhabitants.

The terrain is hilly plain with an average altitude of 100 m.

The climate is temperate. Winters have temperatures around -1ºC and in the summer it is around 24ºC.

The village is well-developed and has excellent infrastructure, including electrification, water-main, partial sewerage system, telephone service, post office, internet and cable TV.

Close the village is the railway line Levski - Svishtov. And about 5 km southwest is the international first-class road E83 Sofia-Ruse-Bucharest.

There is regular bus transport to and from the village.

The village has a town-hall, primary school, kindergarten, community center, church and health service.

The main occupation is agriculture and livestock.

In the territory of the village there is grain base of the State Reserve, waste disposal, manufacturing factory and  two agricultural cooperatives - “Iskra” and "Vazdrazhdane”.


Places of interest and tourism

In the area of Morava thee are two dams suitable for fishing, relaxation and hiking.

The church of “Sv. Arhangel Mihail” was built in 1873 and inn 1979 was declared a cultural monument.

There is also a house museum with exhibits more than 100 years old: costumes, photos, lyrics from the past, tools, etc.
