Kartozhabene is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Pleven municipality, Pleven region.

It is 10 km southwest of the town of Pleven and 3 km south of the village of Tarnene. The capital Sofia is 161 km southwest.

Bus transportation connects it to the other settlements.

It is located in rocky area along the shore of Chernelka river and its altitude is 153 m. The climate is characterized by hot and dry summer while the winter is cold. There is a lot of precipitation from June to February. Hails are common phenomenon in North Bulgaria and specifically in this region.

The permanent population is about 131 people.

In the village are functioning town hall, stadium, pub, shop and pensioners club. GP and dentist are working in Tarnene village where there are also community center and school. At the moment in Kartozhabene is being constructed an orthodox church. There is also cabling for stationery phones and internet. Kindergartens and hospitals you can find in Pleven.

The only established and marked ecotrail in Pleven municipality is situated on the territory of Chernelka area - between the villages Kartozhabene and Gortalovo which are also starting points for excursions to the canyon. The trail is suitable for walks for its many meadows, gazebos and barbecues. Third starting point is Kapchuka cottage named after the eponymous cave which is situated in proximity.

Favorite place of the local people and the tourists is Mediovski pool where they go sun bathing, swimming and make picnics.

The most visited area is Kaylaka - people go there to relax or have fun outdoors or just go fishing.
