The village of Krumovo

Krumovo is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is in municipality Rhodopi, Plovdiv Region.

There are three more village that have the same name.

It is situated 9 km southwestern direction from the town of Plovdiv, 12 km northern direction from the town of Asenovgrad and about 3 km from the “Krumovo” Airport.

The population is about 2900 inhabitants.

The terrain is hilly plain with average altitude of 190 m.
The climate in the area is transcontinental with a mild winter with temperatures around -2ºС; the summer is warm and dry with average temperatures of 28ºС.

The infrastructure of the village is developed and includes electricity, water-main, telephones, internet and cable TV.
The roads are well-developed and there are first and second class ones.
Regular bus transport connects it with the town of Plovidv and the other surrounding settlements.
Krumovo is part of the railway Plovdiv-Svilengrad with link to Asenograd.

The village has a school, kindergarten, and community center with library, two churches and chapel.
There is a medical center to server the needs of the inhabitants.
Also there are variety of shops and cafes.

 

Places of interest and tourism

Asenova krepost  is a medieval fortress in the Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains, on a high rocky ridge on the left bank of the Asenitsa River. It is situated 15 km from the town of Sadovo. The best preserved and most notable feature of Asenova krepost is the Holy Theotokos of Petrich Church from the 12th-13th century. The town of Asenovgrad takes its modern name from the fortress.

The Bachkovo Monastery or Petritsoni Monastery is situated 35 km from the town and is an important monument of Christian architecture and one of the largest and oldest in Bulgaria. It is located on the right bank of the Chepelare River. The monastery is known and appreciated for the unique combination of Byzantine, Caucasian and Bulgarian culture, united by the common faith.

The Maritsa River runs about 8 km from the village, and the Chaya River is about 2 km away.

Also close are situated the town of Chepelare and Pamporovo Resort. This locations have perfect conditions for winter sports and because their beautiful nature they attract tourists also in the summer.
