Korten is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Nova Zagora municipality, Sliven region.

It is situated 6 km north from the town of Nova Zagora, 48 km southwest from the town of Sliven, 23 km southeast from the town of Tvarditsa and 274 km in the same direction from the capital city of Sofia. Village of Asenovets is located 4 km southwest.
Regular bus service connects it with neighbouring towns.

Located in the northern part of the Upper Thracian Valley, at the foot of Sredna gora mountain, at an altitude of 296 m. The climate is temperate continental. Winters are mild and dry, relatively warm summers. Rainfall is more abundant in autumn and spring.

Korten is the largest village in Nova Zagora municipality with about 2,150 inhabitants. Climatic and soil characteristics of the area are favourable for the development of viticulture. Winery "KORTEN" is one of the largest manufacturers of high quality black and white wines, spirits and other alcoholic beverages in the municipality of Nova Zagora.

There is a town hall, a kindergarten, primary school, two community centers, shops and cafes. In the village there are several companies producing dairy products and tailoring shop. There is Internet, cable TV and mobile phone coverage. Residents can rely on one doctor and two dentists. The nearest hospital is located in the town of Nova Zagora.

Tourism and landmarks

Courtney is one of the few places where you can see real plane MIG 21. Because of the courage of the test pilot Peter Bankov, the village is honoured to have a fighting machine that is flying and picking sky Bulgaria. It can be seen right in the center of the village.

Church "St. Nikolai" was built before liberation, it is dug into the ground. It is a typical Renaissance church.

In Sliven village guests can visit: church "St. Sofia", church "St. Mary", the History Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, the House - Museum Hadzhi Dimitar.

Area Karandila is located in the northeast part of Sliven. There is situated the National Park "Blue Rocks" with area of 11,380 hectares, it has many interesting rock formations.

Sliven Mineral Baths is located 29 km from the village. The healing mineral water and picturesque surroundings set the resort as a preferred location for medical treatment and family vacations.
