Zhiten is a village in North-eastern Bulgaria, part of General Toshevo municipality, Dobrich region. It is located 23 km to the north-east from the town of General Toshevo and 35 km to the north of the town of Dobrich.

The relief is flat. The climate is temperate-continental and is characterized by a hot summer, a warm spring, a cold winter with plenty of snowfalls and a sunny spring. The population numbers to approximately 240 people. Altitude - 120 m.

infrastructure

The infrastructure is well-organized - in the village there is a community center with a library, a pub, a cafe and a shop.
In the nearby village of Krasen are located the pub and the school described in the storeys of the famous Bulgarian writer Yordan Yovkov while he was a teacher in Dobridja region. He wrote some of his most popular works dedicated to the Bulgarian village and spirit at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century
No industrial production is present in the area. The town of General Toshevo is 15 minutes drive away, and the sea shore of Kavarna and the golf courses there are only 30 minutes drive away. The road General Toshevo - Kavarna is in a very good condition.

tourism

The municipality authorities are planning to develop the area as a tourist destination. For the purpose the objects of interest are being restored, and the roads in the municipality are being repaired.
