The village of Zhilentsi

Zhilentsi is a village in Western Bulgaria. It is located in municipality Kyustendil, Kyustendil district.

The village is situated 5 km west direction of the town of Kyustendil, 90 km southwest direction of Sofia city and 15 km from the border checkpoint Gueshevo.

The population is about 1200 inhabitants.
The village consists of the neighborhoods: Vezenkova, Rekalska, Grancharska, Center, Sarbinska, Chiflika, Dolna Brestnitsa, Dolna and Mazneva.
The terrain is mountainous hilly with altitude of 638 m. The climate is transcontinental with mild winter with average temperatures of 2ºС and cool summer with temperatures of 23ºС.
Well-developed infrastructure – electricity, water and partly sewerage installations. Also there are cable TV, cover of all mobile phone networks, telephones and internet.
Regular transport to the town of Kyustendil.
The village is connected through asphalt road to main road E871 with the town of Kyustendil, Sofia city and the border checkpoint for Macedonia.
There is a kindergarten, community center and church. General practitioner serves the needs of the inhabitants.

Tourism

In 1893 in the village is constructed the “Sveti Nikola” church with a nice stone construction.
In the area there are two house-museums, the one of Dimitar Kaliashki and Sasho Klechkov.
The quick transport to the town of Kyustendil allows visits of the mineral springs and health resort as well as the archeological excavations from Roman times.
“Hisarlaka” hill is situated 2 km southeast direction of Kyustendil and it is a fortress built at the end of IV and the beginning of V century.
