Dolni Rakovets is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Radomir municipality, Pernik region

It is 12 km south of Radomir and 26 km south of Pernik. Stefanovo village is 2 km north, Galabnik village is 13 km south. The capital Sofia is located 53 km north. 

Convenient asphalt roads lead to the surrounding villages and to Radomir and Pernik. There is regular bus transportation. The European road E79 is just 10 km away. There is railway station on the international railroad Sofia - Athens. Electricity and water installations. 

Dolni Rakovets is situated in the Radomir hollow at the foot of Ostritsa hill and its altitude is 637 m. The climate is characterized by cold winter with many precipitation and cool summer. The spring comes late. It is often foggy.

The permanent population is about 320 people.

There are church, community center, shop and dentist. The nearest primary schools are in the village of Galabnik and in Radomir where there are high school, kindergarten, GP and hospital. 

Tourism and landmarks

In proximity is situated Stefanovo dam which is extremely nice place suitable for pike and carp fishing.

Local landmarks are St Dimitar monastery and the old church St Nikolay dated back to the XVII century.

Near the village runs the small river Banska, there are also 9 hot mineral water wells and in this area are formed small lakes. This makes it attractive place for relaxation and walks.

It is interesting that in Dolni Rakovets is produced the garlic with the highest quality in Bulgaria. Annually on Todor's name day are organized horse races. 
There is FC in the village named Sarata that competes in the regional league.
