Dolna Melna is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Tran municipality, Pernik region.

It is located about 26 km southwest from the town of Tran and 72 km northwest the town of Pernik. The capital Sofia is 101 km east.

The village is located in mountain region at the foot of Karvav kamak mountain and its altitude is about 939 m. The climate in the area is with clearly expressed four seasons - there is warm but not hot summer while the winter is very cold. The spring is cool and with lots of precipitation, it comes in end of March and the beginning of April, the fall is warmer.

The permanent population is about 23 people.

The nearest school and medical assistance and are working in the municipality.

Tourism and landmarks

In proximity are the rivers Melantsitsa and Polomshtitsa and these are nice places for excursions and walks in the nature.

In the village of Dolna Melna is constructed the monastery ""St Bogoroditsa" that is in the area Tsarkvishteto. It probably dates back to the Medieval centuries and probably a long time after the baptism. The church "St st Petar and Paul" is constructed in the beginning of the XIX c. It is located in the center of the village but it needs maintenance.

Interesting landmarks in the municipality are the gorgeous Gorge of Erma, Ruy peak, the rock church "St Petka", Tran monastery and Vrabcha waterfall.
