Gortalovo is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Pleven municipality, Pleven region

It is 16 km south of the town of Pleven and 152 km northeast from the capital Sofia. The village of Brestovets is 8 km north. 

It is situated on the bank of Chernelka river and its altitude is 207 m. The climate is temperate and is characterized with hot and dry summer while the winter is cold. During June and February fall lots of precipitation. Hails are common phenomenon to the area.

Regular bus transportation connects it to the town of Pleven and the neighboring settlements. There are constructed water, electricity and phone systems. The central streets are asphalted. 

The permanent population is about 195 people. 

Here are functioning town hall, community center with center for elderly people and library, guest house, store and restaurant. The nearest GP and kindergarten are in the village of Brestovets. Specialized medical assistance you can get on the territory of the town of Pleven where there are also schools. 

The village is named after the Russian major Fiyodr Matveevich Gortalov that took part in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878.

Through the village passes the small river Chernelka and from here starts the canyon of the river that is protected natural phenomenon. There is constructed eco path and the tourists can visit the many caves in the area - Kapchuka cave, remains from ancient fortress in Gradishte area, Roman roads, interesting rock formations.

Kaylaka dam (9 km) offers great conditions to the people that enjoy fishing.

In the town of Pleven you can visit Pleven Epopee 1877, Kaylaka park, Wine museum, Skobelev park and the house-museum "Tsar Osvoboditel Aleksander II".
