Varben is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is located in municipality Brezovo, Plovdiv district.

One more village has the same name. It is located in municipality Kirkovo, Kardzhali district.

It is situated 45 km northeast direction of Plovdiv town and 15 km southeast direction and Brezovo town.

The population is about 250 inhabitants.

The terrain is plain hilly with an average altitude of 300-500 m. The climate is transcontinental. The winter there is mild with average temperatures of 1ºС and the summer is dry and warm with temperatures of 25ºС.

The village is well-developed with good infrastructure – electricity, water system, telephones and digital TV.

Regular bus transport to the towns of Plovdiv and Brezovo. Situated 28 km southwest direction is “Tarkia” highway.

General practitioner serves the needs of the inhabitants. There are shops and cafes.

The closest education establishments are in the administrative center – Brezovo.

The main occupation is agriculture and livestock.

Tourism

Asenova krepost is a medieval fortress in the Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains, on a high rocky ridge on the left bank of the Asenitsa River. It is situated 60 km from the village. The best preserved and most notable feature of Asenova krepost is the Holy Theotokos of Petrich Church from the 12th-13th century. The town of Asenovgrad takes its modern name from the fortress.

The Bachkovo Monastery or Petritsoni Monastery is situated 70 km away and is an important monument of Christian architecture and one of the largest and oldest in Bulgaria. It is located on the right bank of the Chepelare River. The monastery is known and appreciated for the unique combination of Byzantine, Caucasian and Bulgarian culture, united by the common faith.

Also not far are situated the town of Chepelare and Pamporovo Resort where you can find the perfect conditions for winter sports.
