Village of Borintsi

Borintsi is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Kotel Municipality, Sliven region.

It is 32 km northwest from the town of Kotel, about 32 km east from the town of Elena, nearly 59 km north  from the town of Sliven and 294 km northwest from the capital-Sofia.
There are regular bus transport.

Borintsi village is situated at the foot of Stara Planina mountain at 478 m altitude. The permanent population is about 150 inhabitants. In 2006 the deserted village Varlishte was affiliated to the village of Borintsi.

The climate is temperate, with the influence of mountain climate region - mild winter, cool summer and warm and long autumn.

Borintsi has a town hall, chapel, community center and two stores for food and non food goods. There is cable TV , Internet and coverage of all mobile operators. The village has one general practitioner and a veterinarian. Nearest health care and educational facilities are located in the town of Kotel.

Surroundings and sights

Elena and Kotel are towns of great cultural and historical significance and attract Bulgarian and foreign tourists for their rich history and Renaissance architecture.

In the town of Kotel you can visit:

  • Pantheon of Rakovski;
  • Museum of the Renaissance;
  • Natural History Museum;
  • Historical Museum of Kotel, it has 3 exposures in the city and 5 exposures Zheravna and Medven.


In the town of Elena:

  • The house-museum "Ilarion Makreopolski";
  • Clock Tower;
  • Daskalolivnitsata - the first Bulgarian secondary school, founded by Ivan Momchilov in 1843;
  • Church "St. Nikola";
  • Temple Church "Uspenie na Presveta Bogoroditsa" with belfry;
  • Razsukanov houses;
  • Popnikolov house;
  • Museum of Paleontology.
