Sopot is a town in Central Bulgaria. It is in the District of Plovdiv and 5 km West of the town of Karlovo. The town is the center of Sopot Municipality.
location
Sopot is disposed in the valley of river Stryama, 510 m above sea level in, the very skirts of Stara Planina mountain, and stands 5 km west of Karlovo, 136 km East of Sofia and 63 km North of Plovdiv.
Close to town is the first station of the longest in the Balkans chairlift to Nezabravka hut.
The population of the town is of 8754 residents.
transport
Е871 highway /Sofia-Karlovo- Burgas/ passes through the municipality of Sopot , as well as the sub-balkan railway line Sofia- Burgas. There are regular transport links to Karlovo, Plovdiv, Sofia, Troyan and other nearby settlements.
CLIMATE
The climate of Sopot is the one of the Stryama valley, situated in the southern part of the transcontinental climate area. Compared to the rest of the sub-Balkan fields it is milder and softer. The average year temperature is 11,4º C.
The winter is comparatively mild, summer is moderately warm.

In the region of Sopot are growing essential oil crops ( roses and mint)
