Dryanovo

Location
Dryanovo is located on 270 m altitude at the foot of Central Stara Planina and it’s stands in tiers on the both sides of Dryanovska River. It’s 21 km northwest from its city region – town of Gabrovo and 220 km from city of Sofia. The district is characterized with its extraordinary healthy climate, clean air and extremely beautiful nature.
Sites
Kolyo Ficheto Museum is an interesting site, where tourists can see the works of the famous Bulgarian Revival artist exhibited. Among them are the famous pictures: “The church with a nave and two aisles”, “St. Nikola” and “Dryanovo Bridge”. The market in Dryanovo is another place that is a must for the visitors. It is in fact, a market street, on which are situated various Revival houses and workshops. There’s a church in the complex, as well (“Holy Trinity), a clock-house and art gallery.
The Region
Monastery of St. Archangel Michael, also known as Dryanovski Monastery is only 4 km from the town, in the gorge Dryanovska River. It’s founded in 12th c and it’s the stronghold of Bulgarian spiritual culture. The exhibition “Dryanovski monastery – center of Bulgarian spirituality” is organized in a building near the monastery.
Bacho Kiro Cave is only on a 5 minute walk from the monastery. The cave is formed by the rivers waters and is like a labyrinth with 2400 m long galleries. The bones of cave bear, prehistoric people, clay dishes and tools.
There’s also an eco-path near the cave.
