Town of Brezovo

Brezovo is a municipality town in Southern Bulgaria, Plovdiv Region.

There are two more settlements with the same name situated in municipality Teteven, Lovech Region and the other is in municipality Elena, Veliko Tarnovo Region.

It is located 45 km northeastern direction from the town of Plovdiv and about 10 km northeastern direction from the town of Rakovski.

The population is about 2000 inhabitants.

The terrain is plain with average altitude of 240 m.
The climate is transcontinental. The winter is mild and warm with temperatures around 1ºС and warm summer with temperatures around 25ºС.

The town has excellently built technical, transport, manufacturing and social infrastructure. There is electricity, water and sewerage installations, telephones, internet, cable and digital TV.

The street and transport networks are well-developed.
Secondary road-56 goes through the territory of the town and connects it with highway Trakya.

There is an elementary school, kindergarten, school and community center with a theater in it.
“MBAL-Rakovski” Hospital serves the needs of the municipalities of Rakovski and Brezovo.

The area is appropriate for cultivation of vines, oil-beating crops, especially of oil rose.
The production of rose oil is the main occupation of the majority of the population.
Also there is a winery for the production of high quality wines. The production is sold abroad.
There is a poultry that sells its production in France.

Tourism

In 1879 was formed a secular school which is now restored and turned into a museum and is open for visitors.

The natural resources, fresh air and water, green forests and historical heritage create conditions for the developing of different types of tourism. Sarnena Sredna Gora offers picturesque hiking routes for eco-path lovers and extreme tourism. The municipality has 82 dams that offer great conditions for water sports. Two rest-houses – “Bartan” and “Svejen” provide conditions for developing of the equestrian and hunting.

Around 50 km northeastern direction is situated the town of Pavel Banya that is famous its mineral springs used for treating some diseases of the musculoskeletal system, peripheral nervous system and gynecological diseases, etc. The balneotherapy resort is the basis for the developing of a spa center and medical tourism.
