Zhivkovo is a village in Ihtiman municipality, Sofia region.
In Bulgaria there is one other settlement with the same name in Hitrino municipality, Shumen region.
It is 5 km northwest of the town of Ihtiman, 50 km southeast of Sofia, 31 km northeast of the town of Sofia, 31 km northeast of the town of Samokov and 24 km northwestof the town of Kostenets.
It is situated in Sredna gora mountain and its altitude is 500-650 meters. The climate is characterized by hot summer and cold winter. The spring is cool while the fall is warm and often takes longer.
The population is about 550 people. There is regular railway and bus transportation to the neighboring villages.
Zhivkovo is with electricity and water systems constructed, the streets are asphalted. The mobile operators have coverage. In the village are functioning town hall, stores, kindergarten and health cabinet. The nearest hospital and school are on the territory of the town of Ihtiman.
The tourists can visit the church "St Velikomachenik George" that was constructed in 1847 and the temple "Rozhdestvo Bogorodichno" constructed in 1904 and reconstructed in 2004.
The community center "Prosveta" is established in 12 of March 1922 and till today the culture flourishes in it.
The renovated monastery "St Duh" is just one kilometer from the village and was found in the XIX century. Here is organized the fest of Zhivkovo village.
The village is starting point of some routes. From here you can head to the village of Verinsko and Bozalan (Bakardere) dam or to Borika village.
