Zheravna is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in the Kotel Municipality, Sliven Region.
Zheravna stands 14 km south of Kotel, 48 km northeast of Sliven, 110 km northwest aof Burgas, 333 km of the capital city Sofia.
The village of is situated in a mountainous region. It is set in the middle part of Stara Planina Mountains. The altitude of the is about 630 meters, the population is about 437 people. The winter is mild, the summer is cool.
Zheravna architectural reserve is famous all over the world and is among 100 national tourist sites of the Bulgarian Tourist Union.
In the village are preserved over 200 wooden houses (each cultural monument), built during the Renaissance. Some of them are more than 300 years old. Village of Zheravna is one of the wonders of the Bulgarian master builder, many of the houses are completed architectural images with a unique art form. Zheravna used to be an education centre for the whole region and Hilendarski Monastery used to have a nunnery. It has been preserved until nowadays and is in close proximity to the church. It is believed that a copy of "History Slavyanobalgarskaya" was made here.
The reserve is famous for its many fountains. In the vicinity gushes lots of springs, most of which are inserted into spouts of fountains (Krincha, Starcha, Zaykovka) since time immemorial.
The village offers good opportunities for recreation and tourism - in the last three years have been built several new guest houses, offering good conditions for tourists. Do not miss the opportunity to ride horses!
