Yagodovo is a village is southern Bulgaria, part of Rhodopi Municipality, Plovdiv Region.

There is one more settlement with the same name that is situated in Berkovitsa Municipality, Montana Region.

It is about 6 km from the town of Plovdiv and 15 km from the town of Asenovgrad.

The population is about 4500 inhabitants.

The terrain is hilly plain with average altitude of 160 m.
The climate in the area is transcontinental with mild winter with temperatures about -2ºС and a warm summer with temperatures about 28ºС.

The infrastructure is excellent and includes electricity, water-main, telecommunications and cable TV.
There are shops, taverns and cafes. The roads are asphalt and there is public transport that connects it with Plovdiv – bus line №22 and other buses.

There is a town hall, secondary school, kindergarten, community center with library, post office and stadium. There are two churches. An old chapel in the yard of the kindergaren. An the new church is opposite of the school.
There are two general practitioners that serve the needs of the inhabitants.

 

Places of interest and tourism

Asenova krepost  is a medieval fortress in the Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains, on a high rocky ridge on the left bank of the Asenitsa River. It is situated 15 km from the town of Sadovo. The best preserved and most notable feature of Asenova krepost is the Holy Theotokos of Petrich Church from the 12th-13th century. The town of Asenovgrad takes its modern name from the fortress.

The Bachkovo Monastery or Petritsoni Monastery is situated 35 km from the town and is an important monument of Christian architecture and one of the largest and oldest in Bulgaria. It is located on the right bank of the Chepelare River. The monastery is known and appreciated for the unique combination of Byzantine, Caucasian and Bulgarian culture, united by the common faith.

Also close are situated the town of Chepelare and Pamporovo Resort. This locations have perfect conditions for winter sports and because their beautiful nature they attract tourists also in the summer.
