Vodni pad is a village in South Bulgaria. It is located in Devin municipality, Smolyan region.

It is 34 km south of the town of Devin, 69 km west of the town of Smolyan, 42 km southeast of the town of Dospat, 2 km from the border with Greece and 239 km southeast of the capital Sofia.
Regular transportation connects it to the other settlements.

It is in the Southern part of Rhodopi mountain on altitude of 1425 m. The relief is typical for mountains and is characterized by horizontal and vertical divisions, the slopes are easily accessed and there are rock formations and caves. The climate is characterized by low summer temperatures and heavy precipitation, the snow coverage is considerably long.

The permanent population is about 10 people. The people are mainly occupied in farming, stock breeding and carving.

In the village works store for all goods. The mobile operators have coverage. In the neighboring village of Trigrad /7 km north/ you will find primary school, there is also medical assistance and two dentists. The nearest schools, kindergarten and hospital are located in the town of Devin.

 

Tourism and landmarks

  • In the area Gorniya dol can be visited two caves that are not suitable for tourists and in one of them there is natural spring. The narrow rocks in Garvanov kamak are suitable for mountain climbing.
  • Tourist destination is also the rock formation Fatmadski kamak that is 2 km from the village. There is a saying that early in the morning the height of the rock is seen from the Mediterranean sea. 
  • Just 2-3 km from the village is the reserve Shabanitsa /Old forest/. In the reserve are preserved hundred years old beech and spruce forests - two hundred years and more. Here there are habitats of deers and grouse.
  • In the area you can also go on an excursion to Trigradsko Gorge (18 km), Yagodinskata cave (33 km), Buynovskoto Gorge (39 km), The cave Dyavolskoto garlo (16 km).
