Village of Vishnevo

Vishnevo is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Banite municipality, Smolyan region.

It is located about 6 km east from the village of Banite, 35 km northeast from the town of Madan, 51 km northeast from the town of Smolyan and 259 km southeast from the city of Sofia.

Vishnevo village is located in a mountainous area at ​​650 m altitude. The permanent population is about 300 people.

The climate is transitional-continental. The winter is long, but soft with heavy snow. Summer is cool.

The village has a town hall, community center and shop. There are Internet, cable TV and coverage of all mobile operators. The guests of the village can stay at Ecohotel "Vishnevo" which has a tavern. Nearest schools and hospital are located in the village of Banite.

Vishnevo is located in this part of the Rhodope Mountains, which is most attractive to tourists with its virgin and majestic scenery. Here there is an incredible panorama of grade green and blue peaks reaching to the horizon. Crystal clear air and magnetic silence with many eco trails provide excellent conditions for eco-tourism.

The most attractive is the ecotrail to the Devil's Bridge, located in the scenic valley of Arda River. It was built in the sixteenth century, 12 m high and 56 meters long.

The fortress Perperikon is situated near the village, it is an archaeological complex consisting of four parts: a powerful fortress, the Acropolis, in the highest part of the hill, palace and sanctuary, which is just below the Acropolis from the south. Its name is associated with gold coins known as Perper Zlatitsa in medieval Bulgaria.

Nearby is also the architectural gem - town of Zlatograd. It has a rich culture and history. Here is the oldest built during the Ottoman rule  church in the Rhodopes - "Uspenie Bogorodichno" - built in 1834, there was found the oldest monument of the Renaissance Rhodopes - "Zlatograd pismovnik". The city has architectural reserve.

In the nearby village of Banite you can go to the beach with mineral water thermal spring, which is known since Roman times.
