Village of Vievo

Vievo is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan Municipality, Smolyan region.

Located 29 km northeast from the town of Smolyan, 30 km southeast from the resort Pamporovo, approximately 31 km southeast from the town of Chepelare and 233 km in the same direction from the city of Sofia.
There is regular bus transport to nearby towns.

Altitude is 1150 meters. Climate is mountainous, with lower summer temperatures and heavy rainfall, snow cover stays longer.

In the village live 540 people.

Here there is a town hall, library, mosque, general store and cafe. Also there is Internet, cable TV and mobile phone coverage.
Nearest kindergarten, school and hospital are located in the town of Smolyan.

Beautiful natural areas provide opportunities for fishing and sports.

In the area "Govedarnika" is situated water source "Safrana"  with healing water. On the 6th of May at 00.00 hours the whole population rushes in order to pour from the water, for which it is considered that after spraying it on people, houses and animals, they will be healthy throughout the year.

In the village there is a museum with ethnographic collection of old costumes, weaving equipment and household items and exhibition "Vievo - Past, Present and Future".

Village of Momchilovtsi is located 10 km northwest - a popular tourist destination because of its beautiful scenery and fresh mountain air.

At about 5 km southwest of the village in the village of Slaveino you can see: the house-museum of Prof. Dr. Konstantin Chilov, Church "St. Ilya" - famous for its gilded domes, four chapels well preserved until today.
Also you can visit historic areas Imaret Dere (Haidushki Polyani), Inoglovo, Balitsko, Bahtyaritsa.
