Turyan is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Smolyan, Smolyan Region.
Turyan is located on the southern slopes of Kaynadinskiya hill , 14 km south of Smolyan and 112 km south of Plovdiv. The altitude is 1112 meters, and its population is about 77 inhabitants. The village is scattered in several neighborhoods.
The area around the village is karst, the rocks are cracked, there are numerous caves, many of them unexplored. Nature is very picturesque with great biodiversity.
The climate is typical of western Rhodope Mountains. Summer is cool and humid and autumn - long and warm. Snow cover lasts from 80-120 days.
The main occupation of people is potato growing, livestock breeding and beekeeping.
The village boasts a church of the Assumption of Mary, which collect sunlight and lit with energy from solar panels. In the area of Turyan has unexplored Thracian mines, mud and tombs. About two miles south of the village is famous cave Uhlovitsa.
The village has no schools and guest houses, but locals are very hospitable, so placement is no problem.
